Doppler is a knife finish in CS2 that comes in several “phases”, each with its own colour scheme. The regular Doppler has Phase 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus three rare gems: Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl. Gamma Doppler, its greener cousin, has its own Phase 1 to 4 and one gem, Emerald. In-game the item name just says “Doppler”, but the phase changes the look completely and, with it, the price.
Why Doppler has phases
Doppler is a candy-apple style finish over a metallic base. Valve built it with several different colour textures, and each knife randomly receives one of them when it is created. The community calls these textures phases. Within each phase the exact spread of colours still depends on the pattern seed, so two Phase 2 knives can look slightly different, but the dominant colours stay the same. Doppler finishes come in the cleanest wears only (Factory New and Minimal Wear), which keeps the colours bright.
Doppler phases and colours
| Phase | Typical look |
|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Mostly dark black areas with pink and some blue |
| Phase 2 | Strong pink and purple tones, the most “pink” of the phases |
| Phase 3 | Greens, teals and blue with little pink |
| Phase 4 | Mainly blue with purple touches |
| Ruby | Almost entirely deep red (gem) |
| Sapphire | Almost entirely bright blue (gem) |
| Black Pearl | Dark, near-black base with purple and blue reflections (gem) |
Phase 2 and Phase 4 are often the favourites among the regular phases, while Phase 1 and Phase 3 are usually the most affordable way into a Doppler knife. The three gems are much rarer than any regular phase and sit in a completely different price bracket.
Gamma Doppler phases
Gamma Doppler uses the same idea with a green-based palette. It came later and is available on many knives as well.
| Phase | Typical look |
|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Deep green with dark areas |
| Phase 2 | Bright green with yellowish tones |
| Phase 3 | Green mixed with blue and teal |
| Phase 4 | Blue-green with more blue |
| Emerald | Almost entirely vivid green (gem) |
Emerald is to Gamma Doppler what Ruby and Sapphire are to the regular Doppler: the rare, almost single-colour version collectors look for.
How to identify the phase of a Doppler
Because the phase is not written in the game name, you identify it in one of these ways:
- By eye. Inspect the knife and compare the dominant colours with the tables above. Gems are easy; regular phases need some practice.
- With inspect tools. Many third-party inspection tools read the texture data and display the phase directly.
- From the listing. Most stores and marketplaces list Doppler knives by phase, because the price changes so much.
Choosing a Doppler phase on SoleBCN
This is one area where you do get to choose. On SoleBCN each Doppler and Gamma Doppler phase has its own skin page and its own price, so you can pick exactly the phase you want. For example, the Karambit Doppler Phase 2, the Karambit Doppler Ruby and the Karambit Gamma Doppler Emerald are separate pages, each with a live market price in euros.
What you cannot choose is the exact float or seed inside that phase. You receive one unit of the phase and wear you selected, with a random float and pattern within it. If you want to understand how wear works on these finishes, see CS2 float value explained.
Doppler vs other knife finishes
Doppler is often compared with Fade and Marble Fade, the other colourful knife finishes. Fade shows a gradient from yellow to pink to purple and is valued by its fade percentage. Marble Fade mixes red, blue and yellow in patterns like “Fire & Ice”. Doppler is different: its value is driven mainly by the phase, which is a clear category rather than a percentage. Our guide on rare patterns, blue gem, Fade and Marble Fade covers those finishes.
Tips before buying a Doppler knife
- Decide on the colour first. If you love pink, Phase 2 is the natural pick; for blue, look at Phase 4 or Sapphire.
- Compare the same phase across knife types. A Doppler on a less popular knife can cost far less than the same phase on a Karambit or Butterfly.
- Remember the knife model matters as much as the finish. Browse the knives catalogue or the Karambit skins to compare models.
- Prices follow the market and update every 10 minutes, so check the page right before ordering.
Once you have chosen, the purchase works like any other skin: paste your trade URL, pick a coin and pay the fixed amount. See how to buy CS2 skins with crypto for the full process.
FAQ
Is the Doppler phase shown in the item name in CS2?
No. The game just calls it Doppler or Gamma Doppler. You recognise the phase by its colours, an inspect tool or the store listing.
Which Doppler phase is the cheapest?
It varies by knife and market, but Phase 1 and Phase 3 are often the most affordable regular phases. Compare the phase pages for live prices.
Can I pick a Ruby or Sapphire on SoleBCN?
Yes, if it is in stock. Each phase and gem has its own page and price, so you choose it directly; only float and seed are random.
