StatTrak™ is a version of a CS2 skin with a small digital counter built into the weapon that records the kills you make with it. You see it as an orange display on the gun in first person and as “StatTrak™” in orange in the item name. Mechanically, a StatTrak weapon is identical to the normal version: same damage, same recoil, same everything. You pay for the counter and the look, nothing else.

How the StatTrak kill counter works

The counter goes up each time the owner of the item gets a kill with it in official game modes. Two details surprise many first-time buyers:

  • It counts the owner’s kills only. If you lend a StatTrak weapon to a teammate who picks it up, their kills do not add to your counter. In fact, the display warns other players that the weapon is not theirs.
  • It resets when the item changes owner. When a StatTrak skin is traded to a new account, the counter goes back to zero. So when you buy one, the number you will see is the number of kills you make, not the previous owner’s history.

Many players see that reset as a plus: the counter becomes a personal record of how much you use your favourite gun.

Where StatTrak skins come from

StatTrak versions drop from weapon cases with a small chance on any item that has a StatTrak variant. Knives from cases can also be StatTrak, shown as ★ StatTrak™. Gloves never come in StatTrak. There are also StatTrak music kits, which count MVP stars instead of kills, but this guide focuses on weapons and knives.

StatTrak vs Souvenir vs normal

Souvenir skins are often confused with StatTrak, but they are a completely different thing.

A single item can never be both StatTrak and Souvenir. Souvenir skins usually carry stickers from the teams and players of a specific Major match, which gives them collector appeal on their own.

How much more does StatTrak cost?

A StatTrak version usually costs considerably more than the normal one in the same wear, because only a small share of case openings produce it. But there is no fixed ratio. For some cheap skins the extra cost is modest; for popular rifles and knives the gap can be wide. It also depends on the wear, since a StatTrak Factory New of a scarce skin is rarer than a StatTrak Field-Tested.

The honest answer is to compare. On SoleBCN each skin page lists the price of every wear and, when they exist, the StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions side by side, at live market prices in euros. Open the AK-47 Vulcan or the M4A1-S Printstream to see how the versions compare right now.

Is StatTrak worth it?

When it makes sense

  • It is your main weapon and you play a lot with it, so the counter will grow and mean something to you.
  • You like the extra detail of the counter screen when you inspect the gun.
  • You want the “complete” version of a skin you plan to keep for a long time.

When to skip it

  • You are on a budget. For the price difference you can often move up a wear tier, or buy a second skin. Our cheap good-looking CS2 skins guide suggests leaving StatTrak aside if price is your priority.
  • It is a weapon you rarely use, so the counter would stay near zero.
  • You care about how the skin looks in matches; the finish itself is exactly the same.

StatTrak and float, pattern and wear

StatTrak does not change anything about the finish: float ranges, wear tiers and patterns follow the same rules as the normal skin. If you want to understand what Factory New or Field-Tested really means, read CS2 float value explained. When you buy a StatTrak skin on SoleBCN you choose the version and the wear, and you receive one unit with a random float and pattern within that wear, the same as any other item.

Buying a StatTrak skin with crypto

Pick the skin, select the StatTrak™ row in the wear list, paste your Steam trade URL and choose one of the 24 payment options. There is no account to create. Browse rifles or the knives catalogue to find StatTrak versions, then follow the steps in how to buy CS2 skins with crypto.

FAQ

Will I see the previous owner's kills on a StatTrak skin I buy?

No. The counter starts again at zero when the item moves to a new account, so it will only show the kills you make.

Do StatTrak weapons perform better?

No. Damage, accuracy and handling are identical to the normal version. The only difference is the counter and the label.

Can gloves be StatTrak?

No. Gloves exist only in normal quality. Weapons and knives from cases can have StatTrak versions.
